The church's numerous committees keep the church administratively sound; facilitate social action; perform community service; organize retreats, workshops and films and maintain the church's beloved garden and building. We encourage members new and old to become involved.

Church Council
Consisting of all committee chairs and some at-large members,
this is the official decision-making body of the church.
The Council envisions, plans, implements and annually evaluates the overall mission and ministry of the church.
The Council meets once a month on the second Thursday.
Adult Education Committee
Works with the pastor and other to plan and implement an adult education program for the church. For more information see the

Board of Trustees
This committee is responsible for all church property. It oversees maintenance and all endowment funds and legal concerns. It is the legal body of the church.
Children’s Committee
Plans for the Sunday school, ensures proper leadership and assists with classes and special activities. For related information visit the

Fellowship Circles
Small groups that meet informally from time to time to foster community.
Finance Committee
Overseeing the finances of the church, this committee prepares a yearly budget which it submits to the church council for review and adoption. The committee also oversees a yearly stewardship campaign and ensures that other fund raising events are in place.
Garden Committee
Plans for and tends the Schaeff Earth Garden. It coordinates volunteers who water, plant, mulch and weed the garden on a regular basis. The committee also hosts several garden work days throughout the year. For more about this group's work, visit the

Leadership Development Committee
Coordinates the volunteer and elected positions of the church. It conducts a yearly survey of members and constituents to discover how they might use their gifts for the work of the church and creates a slate of officers to be elected at the yearly Church Conference.
Mission Committee
Plans the church’s ministry to the needy, poor and marginalized both locally and abroad.
Newsletter Coommittee
Helps create, edit and mail our quarterly church newsletter, “The Acceptable Year.”
Outreach Committee
Works to ensure that visitors and newcomers feel welcomed; helps integrate new-comers into the life of the church
Reconciling Committee
Raises awareness about being an inclusive church regardless of sexual
orientation or gender identity. It also advocates for change in the

Social Action Committee
Educates the congregation and advocates for issues of justice both locally and globally. The Social Action Committee hosts guest speakers, coordinates letter writing campaigns, organizes participation in demonstrations and leads a monthly peace march through the community. Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPR)
This nine member committee serves as the church’s “personnel” committee. In interviews, hires and evaluates staff and serves in an advisory capacity to the Bishop and District Superintendent regarding the appointment of our Pastor. The committee meets regularly with the pastor to communicate concerns. SPR assists the pastor and staff in assessing their gifts and setting priorities for leadership and service.
United Methodist Women (UMW)
UMW is a community of women whose purpose is to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the Church. This group has yearly events that include hosting the Safe Home Vigil in the Fall and the annual Women's Retreat in the Spring.
Worship Committee
Works with the Pastor and Music Director to plan creative worship services and assists in planning and leading special services throughout the year. This committee also oversees lay leadership in the weekly worship. For more information, visit the
