Support Group for People Caring for Aging Family and Friends
We are a group of people who have one or two elderly parents, near or distant. We get together monthly to share our dilemmas, feelings and resource ideas, and to support one another through difficult times. Sometimes we invite professionals from the church community and the neighborhood to address topics such as legal considerations (power of attorney, wills, etc.), care management, nursing home options, and psychological issues of the elderly.
During some meetings we update one another on our own particular situations, finding it useful to hear others' insights, suggestions and sympathetic humor, and always appreciate the sense that everyone has some idea of what the others are going through! We usually meet at church on the first Sunday of the month at 9:15 AM, with occasional after-church meetings or potluck dinners. The group is coordinated by Zoe Moffitt, RN, who is in training as a Geriatric Care ManagerĀ and Deborah Huntington. Please call the church office at 718-768-3093 for more information.
