Music, Choir and Arts Program
The music and arts ministry at PSUMC is vibrant and thriving. We have a dynamic choir of over 35 people which sings everything from Bach to gospel rock. We’ve even done a few anthems in sign language. We have also begun "First Sunday Happenings" at which folk of all ages gather to weave together sacred dance, song, spoken word and drama to offer during worship.

Our anthems range from easy 3-part songs to more challenging 6-part sacred classics. You do not have to be able to read music, but it helps. Best of all, this really is a great group -- friendly, unpretentious, amused and amusing, deeply spiritual and yet always a little irreverent. (It’s hard to describe.) This choir is easy to fit into. If you’re looking for a simple, quick way to get involved in this church, singing in the choir is one of the best options.
From September through June, we rehearse every Sunday morning for one hour before church (9:45-10:45), except the first Sunday of the month — our day off. We also have two hours of rehearsal and fellowship on the second Saturday of each month. The time commitment to belong to this choir is minimal. We do not wear robes, nor do we sit in the choir loft. We’re very informal.
If you would like to join us, contact Choir Director Pam McAllister via the church office at 768-3093 or come to the first rehearsal of the new season — 9:45 sharp, Sunday morning, September 9th in the church sanctuary. (No audition required.) We hope to see you!
First Sunday Happenings
First Sunday Happenings (liturgical Arts Unlimited) occur on the first Sunday of the month (the choir's Sunday off). People of ages 7-107 weave together sacred dance, song, spoken word, drama, and art into a multi-sided offering of expression. Be sure to watch the calendar and announcements for meeting dates
