PSUMC Co-sponsoring Temporary Shelter for LGBT Youth
In January and February, PSUMC will co-sponsor a temporary Winter Shelter for six homeless LGBT Young Adults in the East Village location of Church of the Village (48 St. Mark's Place). The shelter will be open for 50 nights in two months, so several volunteers are needed to receive training and stay along with another volunteer at the shelter overnight. A training will be held at PSUMC on Saturday, January 6 th , from 1PM – 3PM. Please email Elizabeth Norman at eln212@nyu.edu if you plan to attend.
Please note that because volunteers will work with youth, a Certificate of Good Conduct is required from the NYPD. It takes about three weeks to obtain the certificate, so please apply now, even if you won’t attend training until January. For details, email Elizabeth or visit the NYPD website.
