First Friday Film Morristown now available on DVD
If you missed the screening of Morristown on May 2, don't despair! Film maker Anne Lewis is offering copies of the DVD to PSUMC members and friends at a special rate of $25.
Lewis spoke at the third First Friday Film Series sponsored by the PSUMC Social Action Committee. Her film documents immigration and agribusiness in East Tennessee and a successful union organizing drive supported by workers from both sides of the U.S. border.
Following the event, which had the largest turnout this season, Lewis decided to offer the DVD at a special rate to friends of the PSUMC for $25. This rate is for home and grassroots use — not larger institutions like universities who will need to go through her distributor, Appalshop . To order your copy of the dvd, contact Anne Lewis directly.
“Please thank the Social Action Committee for me,” she wrote in an email message from Texas , where she is Senior Lecturer at UT-Austin. “I thought the church audience was terrific. Please let everyone know how much I respect their community and all those hard, hard questions."
Next month’s film, on Friday, June 6 at 7:30pm, is by Social Action Committee Co-Chair Susan Bolles, who interviewed her grandmother about her days as a union organizer in Brooklyn in the 1930s. Don’t miss this one!
