Worship at 11AM through July and August

This the day
That the Lord has made
Let us rejoice
and be glad in it!
AND LETS DO IT IN AIR CONDITIONED SPLENDOR!

Throughout July and August, worship at PSUMC will be at 11:00 am.  This is an experiment agreed upon by the Worship Committee and the Church Council.  The  motivation for trying this is the desire to offer worship at a time most desirable for the greatest number of people so as to maximize attendance.  Sunday is for gathering the community together, so of course we want to schedule worship iwhen the largest percentage of the church community will attend.  We don't know if the time change will make a difference, but it seemed worth trying.

To further encourage you to worship with us:
When the temperature in the sanctuary tops 85 degrees, we will worship downstairs in wonderful air conditioning!

We will shorten our worship int he summer months, eliminating a few items from our order of worship.  You wont get to the beach too late!

Why is encouraging people to attend worship so important?
-Worship is the central and one of the most important part of practicing our faith.
-Worship is when our church community gathers, and we miss you when you are not there.
-We are creatures of habit. Changing the normal schedule can have negative impact on worship attendance as people are expected to learn new habits.
-Summer is the time when the greatest number of visitors (and potential new members) come through most churches.
-Summer is the peak of the "church shopping" season. 2/3 of all people who move will move during the summer.
-Our lives need it!
